Facts and Figures for November:

  • This month we dealt with 5382 calls, lower than last months
  • The average waiting time was 2 minutes and 4 seconds
  • This month our secretaries have dealt with 358 referrals
  • We are now able to collate all prescriptions figures for the practice, this month we dealt with 26,000 prescriptions
  • There were 187 Did not Attend (DNA) appointments

As we are heading towards Christmas and colder weather it is really important for you to cancel your appointment with us so another patient can use it.

Please contact the practice to cancel your appointment in plenty of time so that it does not go to waste.

Please remember that if we have your up to date mobile phone number you can email your cancellation to us.

PPG Carer Mornings

We are delighted to announce, that after the success of our carers week, our PPG are able to provide a monthly morning carer sessions every first Thursday of every month between 11:00-12:30 in our Health Education Room at the practice.

This will be an opportunity to talk to various organisations about different issues that have an impact on being a carer as well as meeting and talking to other carers. There will be refreshments provided.

If you are a carer but have not yet registered with us, please pick up a carer pack from reception or ask to speak to our carer Champion, Jayne Buxton for further information or speak to her at one of the sessions.

Below is information about some other Carer Support Groups in the area.  

If you are a carer but have not be registered as one with the practice, please contact our Carer's Champion, Jayne Buxton who will take all the necessary information from you and register you as a Carer.

If carer's needs cannot be met through this service then they have the "right to an assessment" Carer Assessment

Support for Young Carers

Many young carers undertake a wide range of domestic tasks and responsibilities as well as having to provide nursing care, personal care and emotional support.

The effect this can have upon the young person’s life often goes unrecognised by professionals and families alike and yet the consequences of missing out on childhood can be very far-reaching. Many young carers are disadvantaged in terms of their educational, social and personal development, and few have the time or energy to simply have fun and be ‘carefree’.

The situation is made worse by the fact that most young carers feel unable to discuss their problems with friends or other adults, through loyalty and fear of the consequences.

CareFree Young Carers’ Service aims to provide a flexible, responsive, and culturally sensitive service by:

  • ensuring young carers have some opportunity to be free of caring responsibilities
  • ensuring equality of opportunity for young carers
  • raising awareness of young carers’ issues
  • providing family based support and advocacy
  • acting as a co-ordinator of services where appropriate
  • providing information to young carers and their families
  • providing social and leisure activities
  • providing practical and emotional support.

Are you a carer?

If you look after your partner, or a relative or friend who is ill or disabled, you are a carer, even if you don’t think of yourself that way.

There are many ways that you might care for someone.

For instance you might:

  • be on hand 24 hours a day to provide care
  • arrange hospital appointments for someone
  • drop round each day to keep someone company or cook their dinner
  • visit a relative who lives far away once a month to see how they’re doing.

Whether you’ve cared for the person for a long time, are temporarily helping them (for example, while they recuperate from an operation), or have just become a carer, take time to review your options and find out what support is available to you.
